The Hopie Perry-Lavenia Young Scholarship

The Hopie Perry-Lavenia Young Scholarship is given annually to young women pursuing higher education.  Please view the eligibility requirements and to download an application.  Application will be available in December and recipients are announced in the Spring.

Eligibility Requirements

​

In order to be eligible for consideration, applicant must:

• Be a female student residing in one of the following counties in North Carolina:  Cabarrus, Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg or South Carolina:  Chester, Lancaster, Union, York

• Be a high school senior planning to pursue post-secondary education at a 4-year college or university

• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

• Be involved in community service activities

Application Process

​

In order to be considered, applicant must:

• Submit a completed application

• Submit a 500 word essay on topic listed on the current application

• Participate in a virtual meeting with the Scholarship Review Board for an opportunity to learn more about you, as well as your goals and aspirations

• Mail an official school transcript sealed in its original school envelope with official seal to:

• Application must be submitted and transcript MUST be postmarked as per the date stated on the application.
